Frameburn draws telemetry over video entirely on your device. That is an architectural decision before it is a privacy one, and it means most of what a privacy policy usually has to explain does not apply here: there is no upload, so there is nothing to secure in transit, nothing stored on a server, and nothing to hand over.
What never leaves your device
- Your videos. Every frame is decoded, composited and encoded on the phone. No clip, no still and no exported file is ever transmitted to us or to anyone else.
- Your GPS traces. GPX, FIT, TCX, DJI subtitle files, FlySight logs and telemetry embedded in camera footage are parsed on the device and stay there.
- Your health and fitness data. Route, heart rate, power and cadence read from Apple Health or Health Connect are used only to draw the overlay on your own video. They are never transmitted, never sold, never used for advertising, and never shared with third parties.
- Your ride list. Project titles, gauge layouts and ride summaries are held in a local database on the device.
What we do collect
Four things, all of them narrow.
- An email address, if you create an account. Handled by Firebase Authentication (Google). If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the email address that provider releases to us — nothing else. An account is optional: the editor works fully without one.
- Anonymous usage events. Firebase Analytics records events like "an import succeeded", "an export finished", "the paywall was opened". They tell us where people get stuck. They carry no video, no position, no health data and no file contents.
- Crash reports. Firebase Crashlytics records the stack trace, the device model and the OS version when the app crashes, so a bug that only happens on one phone can be found and fixed.
- Subscription state. RevenueCat records whether a purchase is active, so Pro works on your other devices. Payment itself is handled entirely by Apple or Google — we never see your card, your name or your billing address.
Who else is involved
Three processors, each doing one job: Google (Firebase Authentication, Analytics and Crashlytics), RevenueCat (subscription state) and Apple or Google as the store that takes the payment. We do not sell data, and there is no advertising network in the app.
The map imagery behind the route gauge is requested from Apple Maps through a function we operate, which signs the request and hands back a URL. It receives the coordinates needed to frame that one image, and stores nothing.
Permissions the app asks for
- Photo library. To read the clip you pick and to save the video you export. Frameburn does not browse or index your library.
- Apple Health / Health Connect. Read-only, and only for the workout you choose. Frameburn never writes to your health store.
- Files. To open a GPX, FIT, TCX, SRT or CSV you hand to it.
Each one can be refused, and the rest of the app keeps working.
Deleting your account
In the app: Settings → Delete account. It removes the account and the email address attached to it. Everything else — your videos, your projects, your ride files — is already only on your device, so uninstalling removes it.
Deleting the account does not cancel a subscription. Subscriptions are held by Apple or Google and have to be cancelled in the App Store or Play Store, or you will keep being billed.

Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask for it to be corrected or erased, and object to processing. Given the above, what we hold is an email address and some anonymous counters, so these requests are usually answered in a sentence. Write to privacy@frameburn.app.
Children
Frameburn is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected, the app will say so before the change takes effect. The date at the top is the version you are reading.
